.🔷 SUMMARY — Greg Alan Jankowski: A Life in Motion
Greg Alan Jankowski’s professional life is a unique American movement-story — beginning in Chicago’s elite fitness world and unfolding across Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York City, San Diego, Manhattan Beach, CA and returning to his native home Dayton, Ohio in 2019.
His mentored educational “dynamic movement foundation” began in 1990 Chicago, where two mentors speared headed providing fitness services changed everything. The Sporting Club — offered a complete full-service facility featuring the country’s first 100-plus-foot indoor rock-climbing wall and professional grade basketball court attracted both hometown Chicago sports stars and other power brokers and entertainers.
The man who launched Greg’s fitness industry career believed in this motivated and enthusiastic guy hiring him on the spot to envigorate his already complete staff of Instructors and fitness trainers. Vincent Finneran taught Greg cardiovascular physiology, pacing, and performance science recognizing a person highly motivated to contribute something special. John Blievernicht, a protege’ of Bob Gajda (Mr. America 1966), a contractor providing sports medicine services introduced Greg to proprioception — neuromuscular awareness, balance-based training, and micro-progressive movement.
Soon after he joined Vinnie and John’s functional fitness high-level conditioning world as a aspiring protege’, he met Tim Grover — then a rising performance coach who would go on to found ATTACK Athletics and become one of the most respected elite sports performance and conditioning coaches in the world. Grover, who famously trained Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade and a host of other champions over decades — used a science-based, no-nonsense approach to build explosiveness, durability, mobility and mental toughness.
Along with the combination of traditional and innovative “feet on the ground” functional fitness training with Vinnie and John, and having the additional benefit of observing top athletes being trained by Tim, Greg was all inspired and felt both accepted and welcomed into becoming a part of unique moment in time learning from the best of the best in high performance movement based training. This '“inspired him to believe” he could become not only a student of, but a potential innovator and contributor himself in the developing fitness industry.
“The trio of Vincent, John, and Tim offered me a direct education and inspiration with hands-on learning implementing proven and innovative exercise modalities which inspired me even more, as the supportive mentoring launched an amazing journey into the upper stratosphere of the growing fitness industry — a launch I treasure to this day.” -GAJ TBP
Greg would take these unique experiences utilizing Gajda’s neural methods through John B’s mentoring formed the intellectual roots of what would later become BEAMWORK™, BACE™, and the GAJ Method™.
He spent the next decade 1993-’05 providing high-level fitness training services for Chicago’s most popular health clubs, then in 2005 moved to Los Angeles, Ca where his life expanded personally and professionally. Greg met Ingrid Reyes (future wife), a high-level advertising strategist with direct and supportive roles behind major ad campaigns including Got Milk?, Verizon, Sprint and many more national brands. With her support, by 2006 he built BEAMWORK™ from sketches and prototypes into manuals, DVDs, branding, hardware, educational curriculum, and a online presence.
In 2008, discovering innovative active based learning pioneers Phil Lawler & Paul Zientarski whose work was the heart of a ground-breaking book, (SPARK, Exercise and the Brain) by Dr. John Ratey. This led Greg to seek out and contact Phil & Paul and their mentoring energy offering a “warm welcome” and was invited to present BEAMWORK into the ABL Educator’s Community at their national gathering of innovators in the physical education world. With both Phil & Paul’s encouragement convinced him to expand BEAMWORK’s learning vehicle potential into general education, brain-based learning, child development, rehab, posture, and cognitive performance.
These experiences culminated into leading Greg to develop the ON IT BEAMWORK Strength System, OIBSS, and eventually the NASM-approved BEAMWORK Trainer Course. After years living and teaching on both coasts, Greg returned to Dayton in 2019 with a continuing lifelong mission:
“To teach the world that balance is brain training —and brain training strengthens how people think, move, learn, recover, and age.” -GAJ TBP
